Chief Isak is the head of Lamakara village. Born in 1939, he’s been leading the John Frum Movement since 1975. Isak’s father was one of the first to speak to John Frum, he swore his family would carry on the belief and he went to prison for 17 years for this promise. Isak’s biggest challenge is to keep the village together, settle conflicts, and keep the belief in John Frum strong. He is the keeper of the John Frum oral history and can speak with the spirit.

Joseph lives in Lamakara with his family and grandfather Philemon. As many twenty-somethings, he is contemplating the John Frum belief and the path of his life.
